John Lennon T-Shirt - RPS Tee worn by John Lennon

John Lennon T-Shirt - RPS Tee worn by John Lennon.

On April 18, 1975, John Lennon appeared for the final time in front of an audience when he performed ‘Imagine’ at the New York Hilton Hotel. The evening was ‘A Salute To Sir Lew Grade’, the influential English show-business impresario. Other names on the bill that night included Tom Jones and Julie Andrews. The ‘RPS’ T-shirt John is pictured wearing is a hand drawn design, created by Gary Kellgren in the early 70s  it was never an official logo for Record Plant Studios and looks a kin to a super hero emblem.  Gary was a well respected recording engineer, producer and one of the original owners of Record Plant Studios. Earlier that year Lennon recorded ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll’ at The Record Plant in NY. A tribute cover album of the music he had grown up listening to. The album was produced by Phil Spector.
